Every prospective immigrant who desires to get into Canada through Express Entry will be ranked according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This is why it’s important to know how to increase your CRS score to improve your chances of success.

The CRS ranks candidates according to their skills, level of education, language ability and work experience among other things. The aim of the Express Entry is to bring in skilled immigrants who can boost Canada’s economy. So the more valuable you are in this respect, the more you can increase your CRS score.

Here are a few ways you can increase your CRS score:

Learn French and write the proficiency exam

Canada has two official languages; English and French. If you can speak both languages and submit test results to prove your ability, you can increase your CRS score. You can write either the TEF Canada or TCF Canada exam.

Rewrite your IELTS exam

If you didn’t get a high band score in your first IELTS attempt, you can rewrite the test to get a better score. The higher your score in the language exam, the better the chance you have to  increase your CRS score. You can work harder and prepare better for the second exam to ensure you do well.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

The Provincial Nominee Program gives Canadian provinces the opportunity to select people to settle in their territories. Getting nominated by a Canadian province will increase your score by 600 points. This makes you more likely to receive an ITA.

Get an extra qualification

As a longer term solution to increase your score, you can further your education. If you don’t have a Master’s degree yet, you can apply for one. It would be even better if you can get your extra degree from a Canadian university.
